Are you
college ready?
In
Early College High School there is a rubric called college readiness.
The rubric is to show students if they are on the right path to becoming a
college student. Students who score a 15 or higher on the rubric are
eligible to take college classes. The rubric also tells students
about their PSAT scores and the teachers ratings. Teachers can say Yes or no
depending on if teacher thinks that the student is college ready. "I think
this is a good way for students to stay on track and to give them a reminder to
do their best" says Dr. Endey
The
"final" stretch
On
May 1st through 4th finals are happening. The final's purpose is to ensure that
students learned something new throughout the school year. The finals are
20 percent of the student's grades with the first and second
semester being 40 percent of the student’s grade. The finals are
broken up into two days Monday and Tuesday. 1st and 2nd period finals
are happening on Monday may 3rd and on May 4th 3rd and 4th
period finals are happening. College classes may already taken
their final or the college classes may take their final later
than the ECHS students and earlier than them too. "It is too
much stress." says Justin A. a student at early college high school.
The
lunch of ECHS
The ECHS high school’s food Menus
have been fairly healthy throughout their years. With their food Pyramid being
the regular grains, fruit, dairy, protein. Michelle Obama has tried for 5 years
now too get kids active and eat healthier. In that conquest to achieve that
goal she has “changed” the way the schools lunches are. There are also those students
that bring lunch or bring junk food. ECHS’s community, filled with students,
teachers, and parents. The ECHS’s adults try to eat healthy to set an example
for the students. On the other hand most of the students don’t eat healthy. In
ECHS you will find kids having chips, candy, cake, and other sugar added items.
People who pack their lunch don’t eat the healthy lunch that the other students
that eat the school’s lunch does.
This
is the school building that 9th and 10th graders use as a learning
place. The name of this school is ECHS@DSU. The school has over 500 students in it
and is filled with great staff and students who work hard in order to get the
best education that they can get. The students are able to get 30 to 60 college
credits
